Why can't my OSS registration be backdated?

The law that introduced One Stop Shop (OSS) in 2021 gives us specific instructions for the start date of the registration: Registration starts from the first day of the calendar quarter following the one in which you told the authorities you wished to start using the scheme. 

That means only transactions that take place after that date can be included on the OSS return.
