What is an EORI number, and why do I need it?

An Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) number is a mandatory number used for customs clearance.

Businesses importing goods from outside the EU into the EU need an EU EORI number.

If you’re importing goods into Northern Ireland, you can use your EU EORI number, as Northern Ireland remains in the customs union for goods. The rest of the UK – Great Britain – still uses EORI numbers for importing, but you will need to register for a separate GB EORI, as the UK is no longer a member of EU.
